that comes from across the ocean

not daring to hope
consumed by her troubles
and confused by the world
that failed to be her friend
a girl
afraid
not daring to hope
as the girl kicked the ground
her foot struck the rock
tearing it from its resting place
and the rock overturned
shimmering
beautiful
magnificant
the rays of the sun
shone down upon its surface
the most beautiful rock
she had ever seen
and the girl understood
the hope of the rock
to someday have
its beauty seen
she smiled
and she dared to hope
